This nest was already here

In 1976, within the series "Deconstrucción de mitos” (Deconstruction of
myths), Marta Minujín made among other works (El obelisco acostado /
The lying obelisk, El obelisco de pan dulce / The fruit cake obelisk,
Comunicado con tierra / Communiqué with Earth, Carlos Gardel de fuego /
Carlos Gardel of fire) El nido de hornero gigante/ The giant hornero nest.

A thousand kilogram hornero nest, within which there were
a TV and chairs to sit and watch TV programs.

Throughout this series of works, Marta reflects on national symbols,
she modifies them, attempts to alter them in order to turn them into others.
She deconstructs them, but not simply to demystify them,
but to restore their dormant power.

Among these symbols there is the nest, that
-I suspect- was a symbol long before the hornero was elected national bird.

Now, 32 years later, once again the nest descends from the tree to the ground.
It’s the same nest, but it is another.

And it’s just that this is usually the case with symbols.
It looks as though they like showing up over and over again in different
cultures (including some very distant from each other), often carrying similar meanings.
This accounts for a unity, for a mysterious something that seeks to lean out.
